CHAKERA PONGALI

FESTIVE SPECIAL TASTY CHAKERA PONGALI!! IS EASY TO PREPARE AND TRADITIONAL DISH PREPARED IN ALL SOUTH INDIAN HOUSES.



INGREDIENTS:


Rice
2 cups
Moongdal/Pesarapappu
1 cup
Sugar
3 1/2 cups
Cashews
few
Dry Coconut(chopped)
few
Water
6 cups
Ghee
1 cup
Elachi

Method:
  • Heat 1 tsp ghee in a kadai ,add cashews and dry coconut and fry it until golden colour and keep it aside.
  • Wash and soak rice and pesarapappu atleast for 10 minutes before preparing.
  • Heat water in a wide vessel,allow it boil for 2 minutes,add pesarappu and allow it cook,at this time i added 2 tsp ghee.
  • Then add rice and cook it,add sugar on the top layer and keep it for 2 minutes  donot stir at this time for 2 minutes.
  • After 2 minutes stir it and mix well,add fried cashews,coconut,elachi,remaining ghee and mix well and cook for 5 minutes

Tasty Chakera pongali Is ready to eat!!

NOTES:

ADDING MORE GHEE GIVES GREAT TASTE...
