INGREDIENTS:



RICE

CHANA DAL
1/2CUP
MILK
4CUPS
WATER
2CUPS
GHEE
50GRAMS/1/2CUP(UP TO THE CHOICE)
CASHEWS
FEW
JAGGERY
250GRAMS
SALT
PINCH
CARDAMON
1
COCONUT
¼ TH CUP


METHOD:
  • HEAT GHEE IN A KADAI, ADD CASHEWS,COCUNUT AND FRY IT UNTIL IT BECOMES BROWN  AND KEEP IT ASIDE.
  • WASH RICE AND CHANADAL AND SOAK THEM IN 2CUPS WATER FOR 10MINUTES.
  • AFTER 10 MINUTES ADD MILK TO THE RICE AND ON THE STOVE.
  • WHEN RICE IS COOKED ADD JAGGERY (PIECES)TO THE RICE  AND REDUCE THE FLAME TO MEDIUM.AND STIR IT.
  • AFTER THE JAGGERY GETS THICK AND DISSOLVED IN THE RICE ADD PINCH OF SALT,GHEE. STIR IT AND COOK FOR 5MINUTES. AND OFF THE STOVE.
  • TAKE THE PONGAL IN A BOWL AND GARNISH IT WITH CASHEWS,COCONUT.


NOTES:
  • GHEE CAN BE ADDED MORE UP TO THE AVAILABILITY AND CHOICE,BUT IT ADDS MORE TASTE.
  • WE CAN ALSO ADD KISMISS IN GARNISHING.
